Ultrasonic testing is a non-destructive process that allows the examination of heavy duty materials for internal faults without taking them apart. It’s an incredibly useful process in the industrial sector, and works by sending high frequency sound energy through the material, where any cracks or faults will be detected by irregularities in the resulting sound wave.

Our ultrasonic testing reference standards are also used as a non-destructive means of testing metals and heavy duty materials to assess how they would react in certain circumstances. In this case, we intentionally place a flaw inside the material allowing the ultrasonic reading to evaluate the effect of each particular fault on the metal.
